The National Library of Belarus will be one of leading information centers of Europe, said the Minister of culture of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Matvejchuk at the Congress on technologies of an information society "TIBO - 2006".

According to the conception of creation of republican information, social and cultural center, in the Library will work an integration automated library information system, supplied with modern hi-tech hardware and software, and also high-speed telecommunication network, said the Minister. Beside that, will be created a corporate network, which will include republican and district libraries. The National Library will be leading communicative center, holder and administrator of a summary electronic catalogue.

Victor Matvejchuk declared, that internet-portal will provide an operative and stable connection of the National Library with Belarusian institutions and international information centers. Beside that, actually is being created a center of corporate cataloguing, which will manage the summary electronic catalogue of Belarusian libraries and information centers.

In the Library's new building will be installed about 1 400 work stations, 130 servers, and computer periphery. High-speed Internet connection will provide an effective functioning of a national system of access both to the Library's information resources and to international information resources.
