National Library of Belarus presents a book-illustrated exhibition "Best Books of Belarus".
    The exhibition is dedicated to acquaint the Library's users and visitors with the best books published by Belarusian state and private publishing houses in 2005.
    At the exhibition are exposed 327 books winners of the XLVI-th Republican competition "Art of a Book - 2006", that took place in Minsk since 17 until 19 February 2005.
    Layout, artistic structure of a book, harmonic connection between book's illustrations and content - all this plays an important role in artistic book culture and publishing art and contributes to improvement of national book publishing and Belarusian material culture overall.
    There was the 46th Republican competition "Art of a Book". Its foundations are the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus and public organization "Belarusian Publishers and Books Distributors Association". During the competition were selected the best samples of layout, artistic design, and publishing art.
    There was a sort of an "artistic report" by publishers, artists, and printing workers. The purpose of the competition is promotion of competitive books, cooperation with talented illustrators, masters of graphics, book-designers, publishers, and printing workers.
    At the exhibition are presented the following sections: state publishing houses, state institutions' publishing houses, private publishing houses, printing industries, publishing houses of religion organizations. Inside the sections is presented production of specific publishers.
    All books awarded with diplomas and prizes are noted with special etiquettes. Contest's superior reward - F. Skoryna Diploma - won an anniversary edition "Victory" ("1518 Days of the Great Patriotic War", "Memory with Tears in the Eyes" ). Publishing house "Mastatskaja Litaratura", printed by MFCP (Minsk color print industry), artists - V. Rogalevich, A. Petrov.

    The best editions of the year are:     

1. "Great Principality of Lithuania", vol. 1. Publishing house "P. Brouka Belarusian Encyclopedia", artist D.Gerasimovich, printed by MFCP (Minsk color print industry);
2. Viktar Alsheuski "Impression of Equilibrium, or Stairs upward". Publishing house "Mastatskaja Litaratura", printed by "Y.Kolas Poligrafkombinat", design by V. Alshevski and D. Siniavski;
3. "Almaz in the Act". Publishing house "International center of integration information'. Artists: A. Petrov, V. Rogalevich, printed by "Y.Kolas Poligrafkombinat".

    Diplomas of the 1st degree won 19 editions;
    Diplomas of the 2nd degree won 48 editions;
    Diplomas of the 3rd degree won 40 editions.

    Besides that, a number of editions won special diplomas for high publishing culture, contribution to safekeeping of spiritual heritage, printed art, devotion to the national idea, public book culture.
    At the exhibition are equally exposed different editions interesting by their design and printing, though they didn't win any rewards
