A basic conception of the composition and planning of Library construction is allocation of the basic stock-depository in the central part of the building, in consideration of optimal providing with readers in reading rooms and loan divisions by information on the shortest connections as well as books delivery from expedition to their placement in the stock-depository.
 A
dominant of the building is a stock-depository in the form of polyhedron that
closes by ball, having a volume of the hyperstoreys. There are a number of benefits
of the form to traditional volumes. It has a wide frame that is economical advantage
in heat engineering. The form of a ball has the shortest inner connections. Its
structural casing in the form of diamond core is highly effective.
A part of the book-stock is fulfilled on the principle of thermos for neutralization of temperature difference influences and temperature-moistury conditions security. There are technological corridors rated along of outside walls, sunlluminated by sun, they create an air space that prevents of temperature differences.
A core passes along the full height of the stock-depository center, in which distributive halls, staircase, freight/passenger elevator, telelifts, engineer vertical channels for ventilation as well as gaskets of engineer communications are located.
Literature is delivered from the depository to reading rooms, loan divisions,
official-production area backwards on stylobata by telelifts that are radially
dispersed from the center of the core.
Figuratively the stock-depository resembles a diamond. Its form symbolizes mind. Knowledge of huge values that has been accumulated for thousand years by humanity, is contained in the Library. In that way this form receives an additional spiritual function that reinforces its sounding as a work of art.
 A construction of the building
lower volumes (the stylobata) is implemented as projections with the object of
visual opening of "the diamond" form and organization of terraces for readers
in summer-time.
According to the project there is a main hall of catalogues and card indexes in space under the stock-depository.
Corridors and halls with entrances in reading rooms are rated throughout the three levels of reading area around the central core. It allows a visitor to be oriented clearly in inner space and not to waste time in search of necessary room.
There are reading rooms, conference hall and cafe, museum of books, show-rooms, administrative household and auxiliary promises on perimeter of the composition's center.
Both a conference hall for 500 places, intended for realization of social and cultural programmes, and a cafe have separate exits and can work independently.
There is a small square and a monument of F. Scorina on it in front of the elevation of building is planned.
Besides, the project provides for an avenue on the West
Side that immortalizes a memory on the great political, cultural
and science men of the Republic of Belarus. It can be developped
in future. |
